C-MAP is the world's largest producer of vector-based electronic charts and charting systems.
C-MAP's worldwide library of electronic charts numbers over 20,000 - covering nearly every port and
harbor in the world. The data is distributed on a variety of formats ranging from CD-ROM to PCMCIA
memory cards to compact flash. The most common format is C-MAP's proprietary memory card called a
C-card™. Founded in Italy in 1985, C-MAP has grown to 21 companies based in 17 countries around
the world.
SeaCAS, LLC, located in the Seattle area, is committed to helping boaters improve their safety and avoid collisions at sea. SeaCAS’ flagship product, SafePassage AIS,provides boaters with real-time, safety-critical information about nearby commercial and AIS-equipped ships. The SeaCAS suite of SafePassage AIS receiver products exhibits superior engineering, design and ease of implementation as they assist in safe navigation through congested shipping lanes and adverse weather conditions.
GlobalSat Technology Corp. was established in 2000 and soon became a major manufacturer of GPS receivers and electronic communications. GlobalSat has refined its core product lines to GPS applications, which consist of all-in-one Car Navigator, Bluetooth GPS, Cable GPS, SDIO/Compact Flash GPS, GPS Tracking System (GSM/GPRS/SMS communication with GPS/A-GPS), Wrist Type GPS Personal Training Devices, GPS Engine Boards/Modules, and GPS System Integration.
Nautical Data International (NDI) is the master distributor of all Electronic Charts and related digital nautical publications officially released by the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS).
NDI provides Electronic Charts and related hardware, software and data products and services for marine transportation, recreation, and science/engineering.
Each NavSim™ product will be designed with all functions compatible with Digital Ocean chart data.
Maptech ®, a Massachusetts-based company, is the largest private publisher and distributor of paper and electronic raster nautical charts.
Maptech's digital mapping business encompasses navigation software; digital, nautical and aeronautical charts; and topographical maps.
Recently, raster aeronautical charts were added to Maptech's product base. Each NavSim™ product will be designed with all functions compatible with Maptech chart data
The National Research Council (NRC) , Institute for Ocean Technology (IOT) in St. John's, Newfoundland offers R&D programs in ship design and advanced navigation systems, ice-structure and wave-structure interaction, and innovative concepts with potentially high payoff in areas such as aquaculture, safety equipment, underwater vehicles and recreational craft. NavSim Technology Inc. is the first incubated spin-off company to come out of the IOT and will further develop the technologies and continue the research initiated while at the Institute.
